I love video games and I've spent a huge chunk of my professional life writing about them and playing them every day.

It's a thought that inevitably crosses any virtual rocker's mind as the night wanes and other band members begin to lose steam; who needs them, I could probably play all these instruments myself! Of course it's merely an overtired delusion of grandure for most of us; just holding drumsticks and a guitar is tricky enough. One enterprising gamer, however, has devised a way to become a one man Rock Band.

I'm sick of going into cafes for a bite to eat only to find ghastly sausage rolls, pallid savouries with WHATEVER (or nothing at all) under a pile of watery potato mash and day-old scones with a concrete lid of cheese - while everything else contains battery chicken.

Spark. Plug. Why do two seemingly simple, non-threatening words, have such terrifyingly different meanings to both genders?

During the past week I have been consumed by an online game that tests your ability to name all the countries of the world. It is addictive, a real test of your geographical knowledge and understanding of the world.

I have spent the last week dressed in a white suit so baggy, MC Hammer would have jiggled with jealousy. My face covered in mesh and the all over span of the suit looking like a bad attempt at a fencer's fancy dress,(Courtesy of my employer and host Stu who lent me the suit, however being about three and a half feet taller than most people, the suit was a tad big) I was however getting firmly stuck in to some apiaries. That's right, I spent a week bee-keeping, and before you try to smother guffaws and look for something better to read, hold out, as against all of my own assumptions bee-keeping is by no means a geeky past time suitable for only the super nerd and the over active entomologist but in fact exciting, awe inspiring and exhausting. (There is of course the possibility that I am both super nerd and over active entomologist.... a fairly strong one come to think about it, but there we go!)

Heath Ledger died of drug overdose about a year ago and has now won himself a Golden Globe. Pundits say he is now a clear favourite to win an Oscar. Let's hope this Golden Globe is the last award he receives.
