$200,000 Given Back To SBS Bank's Community Stars

Hundreds of non-profit groups around the country are planning what they may be able to put their next windfall towards - that's because they are among SBS Bank's community Star account holders.

This week (NB: 15 October) the team at SBS Bank are delighted to celebrate giving $200,000 back to their worthy SBS Star non-profit account holders since the banking package was launched 20 months ago.

SBS Bank general manager corporate performance Lana Winders said the SBS Star banking package had exceeded expectations since it was developed specifically for non-profit clubs and societies. The SBS Star everyday bank account offered fee-free transactions, along side the opportunity to go in a draw to win one of ten $1000 prizes every month.

"Being able to support our hard working and worthy non-profits with the SBS Star banking package and its monthly cash prizes is another way we can provide value back to the wider community. We're stoked to have been able to pump $200,000 back to dozens and dozens of our community Stars.

"It is these voluntary organisations that build the foundations of our communities. Whether it is sports, the arts, education or health, they're all vital to the spirit of the communities they belong to," Mrs Winders said.

Bowls Southland executive officer Gordon Crombie said Bowls Southland received all of the banking services that they had come to expect with a New Zealand-owned mutual bank and winning the $1000 monthly draw was just the icing on the cake.

"With an extensive development programme, which includes a representative trip to Canterbury, secondary school students attending nationals in Auckland and greenkeepers development courses, the extra money from the SBS Star prize draw in September came along at the right time.

"Bowls Southland would urge all non-profit clubs and societies to switch to the SBS Star package. Not only do you receive a great service but you are also assisting to support other non-profit organisations. Congratulations to SBS Bank for this great package that assists groups such as ours and thanks again for the bonus received in the prize," Mr Crombie said.

Wakatipu Rugby Club secretary Phil Wilson said the SBS Star banking package had been brilliant for their club.

"We get all the services available for a normal working account and we have been fortunate enough to win two SBS Star prize draws, which equates to a really good interest rate earned on our money," he said.
