A panel of futurists and inspirational speakers has been lined up to take part in a special seminar in Auckland on 29th November aimed at countering popular anxiety about the apocalyptic predictions about the year 2012.

A film called 2012, directed by Roland Emmerich, has employed a viral marketing campaign drawing on fears of an apocalypse in that year. This campaign, which masquerades as a public awareness video from the fictitious ``Institute for Human Continuity'', has been roundly criticised by scientists and sceptics for contributing to popular anxiety on the topic.

Seminar organiser and panellist, David Slinger explains: `The year 2012 is hot news. Books have been written about it, movies are being made about it. But does it mean the end of the world or the beginning of a new era? How will it affect you? We are getting together with experts to hear positive perspectives and be empowered with insights, advice and tools. But most of all be prepared for an inspiring afternoon that will lift your spirit, give you lots to think about and be fun.'
