Te Rapa Gateway gains momentum with two new industrial developments

Property investor and developer Chalmers Properties, is extending its $300m investment portfolio with two separate industrial developments at its Te Rapa Gateway Industrial Park, one of Waikato’s fastest growing industrial subdivisions.

Valued at a combined $13m, the developments are located on Arthur Porter Drive, Te Rapa Gateway’s main road, named after the late Arthur Porter.

Construction on the first development, a six unit office and warehouse complex designed by Taylored Studio at 680 Arthur Porter Drive, starts in December 2016 with completion scheduled for July 2017. It features two 700sqm road frontage units and four 500sqm units with striking architectural design and a warehouse stud of 6m to the warehouse knee rising to 8m.

The second development, located at 520 and 560 Arthur Porter, will include two 1,300sqm office and warehouse buildings, designed by Eclipse Architecture and featuring modern eye catching office facades and a 9m stud to the warehouse knee. The warehouses also have full drive-around truck access. Construction is scheduled for April to December 2017.

Chalmers Properties general manager David Chafer said the developments, all of which were being marketed for lease, had been designed for flexible industrial use and featured high quality finishing. "These are very well positioned with main road profile in one of the country’s fastest-growing industrial areas, within 10 kilometres of Hamilton’s CBD, an hour and a quarter from Auckland and under an hour and a half’s drive from Port of Tauranga.

Within Te Rapa Gateway, five land sales totalling 2.7ha have been achieved year to date, the largest being the sale of 1.35ha to Bidvest New Zealand for a new distribution centre with construction underway.

A total of 12ha of developed and serviced land is available for sale. Chalmers Properties also offers design-build and lease development to meet occupier’s specific requirements.

"Te Rapa is adjacent to The Base Retail Centre and close to developing regional infrastructure like Tainui Group Holding’s planned 500ha inland port at Ruakura," said Chafer.

The flexible industrial zoning at Te Rapa Gateway allows for a multitude of business uses with sites from 2,500sqm to 3ha in size.
