The Electricity Retailers’ Association of New Zealand (ERANZ) has today announced that Cameron Burrows will take over as Chief Executive from 29 October.

ERANZ Independent Chair Jennie Langley says she is delighted to have Mr Burrows join the team.

"Mr Burrows will bring strong public policy, communications and stakeholder engagement experience to ERANZ at a time when transformation and growth in the electricity sector is a priority, both at a government level and at a household level, says Langley.

"He is a trained economist who has held various roles in the New Zealand Parliament, including serving as Chief Policy Advisor to former Prime Ministers Sir John Key and Sir Bill English. He has also worked at the New Zealand Treasury and in the UK public service.

"Mr Burrows will ensure ERANZ remains a strong voice for promoting a sustainable and competitive retail electricity market that delivers value to electricity users," she says.

Mr Burrows says it is an exciting time to be working in the electricity industry.

"Renewable energy generation is at its highest level in nearly 40 years and new technologies means New Zealanders can now access electricity services more tailored to their individual needs than ever before, says Burrows.

"I want ERANZ to be an energetic and positive voice for both electricity retailers and customers.

"It’s a real privilege to lead the team to build on ERANZ’s work to date and deliver more for New Zealanders who rely on electricity to stay warm, well and productive," says Burrows.
