A masterclass in how to successfully work with Chinese manufacturers and an insider’s guide to the Canton Fair is on offer in Hawke’s Bay next week, at an event hosted by the New Zealand China Trade Association (NZCTA) at the Hawke’s Bay Business Hub.

Jim Poppelwell, NZCTA executive committee member, says the event has an interesting line up of national and local experts who will share insights and lessons learned, together with a guided tour of the upcoming Canton Fair, the oldest, largest and most representative trade fair in China.

"Anyone currently importing from China or maybe even thinking about it, should come to our free event to gain knowledge and to network. The speakers include China importing veterans; people with deep experience of sourcing direct from China. We’ve also assembled a panel of experienced local importers who can talk of their experience."

Mr Poppelwell says that dealing with Chinese businesses needn’t be daunting.

"Sharing ideas, knowledge and best practice is the first step in demystifying China trade. We hope that this event encourages aspiring importers to get started, as well as giving current importers the chance to review how they’re doing business and learn from others."
