Accustomed to celebrating life’s biggest moments with their clientele, Sutcliffe Jewellery are celebrating a milestone of their own this year, enjoying their fifteenth anniversary in business.

Known for their unique and special pieces, Sutcliffe Jewellery first opened the doors of their Parnell Road showroom in 2004 and have been handcrafting fine jewellery, made to perfection, ever since.

A craftsman at heart, founder Brent Sutcliffe followed in his father’s footsteps, completing his apprenticeship in New Zealand before leaving to work in the jewellery heart of London, Hatton Garden.

"I’d always admired craft so as a passionate jeweller, it was incredible to work alongside other famous houses such as Graff, de Beers and the London Diamond Borse," says Brent Sutcliffe, Founder of Sutcliffe Jewellery. "Working in London grew my love for antique jewellery, something that added a new dimension to my designs."

During his time in London, Brent crafted a unique piece that took 170 hours to complete which won him the industry’s top honours, Diamond Mounter of the Year and the Gold Award for Small Works. Brent was then also awarded a Special Council Award, created specifically to honour his achievement.

Since opening the boutique in New Zealand fifteen years ago, Sutcliffe Jewellery has become known for its impeccably high standards and passion for the craft, with handpicked quality stones that are conflict-free, and an attention to detail that is second to none. Every piece created by the Sutcliffe team stands tall both locally and amongst its international peers. "What sets us apart is our creativity and desire for perfection," says Sutcliffe. "We’ve created some incredible pieces over the past fifteen years, and we pour our heart and soul into every single one. Sometimes so much so that we become attached to them, with a few special pieces that we have spent months designing that are truly hard to see go."

As well as designing award-winning jewellery, over the last fifteen years the Sutcliffe team have been invited to travel internationally to both consult on unique jewellery designs and deliver beautifully finished pieces. In an ever-changing industry, Sutcliffe Jewellery continues to be a leader in handcrafted fine jewellery, made to perfection in the workshop situated at the back of the Parnell showroom.

As for the next fifteen years, expect to see Sutcliffe Jewellery continue to grow their luxury jewellery offering and push the creative boundaries when it comes to fine jewellery here in New Zealand.
