AVATAR, the motion picture, is released tomorrow in New Zealand and Australia, after four years in production, including groundbreaking and revolutionary technology breakthroughs never before achieved. James Cameron first conceived the film 15 years ago, when the technological means to realise his vision did not yet exist. AVATAR, is a live action film with a new generation of special effects, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and sweep of the story.
New Zealand based Weta Digital, a world leading visual effects company, was at the heart of the project, providing the full suite of digital production services from concept design to cutting edge 3D animation. Weta Digital has been nominated for five visual effects Oscars®, won four and are best known for their work on The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Weta Digital is listed in the Top 500 supercomputers in the world and used HP BladeSystem technology to support the incredible processing and rendering requirement demanded in the production. The special effects achieved in the film deliver a fully immersive cinematic experience. View the preview on http://www.avatarmovie.com
