28 JULY 2008 - What: Computers in Homes Rorohiko I roto ngā Kāinga is a national programme that brings computer technology within reach of all New Zealand families with school-aged children.
The programme provides families in low-income communities with computers and the Internet, but more importantly, training, skills and support to use computer technology, through their local school.
25 families have been involved locally in Wanganui and will celebrate their graduation in a ceremony to be held at Wanganui East School.
When: The Graduation ceremony will be held from 5:30pm on Thursday 31 July.

Why: Computers in Homes helps to strengthen relationships between families and schools, improve educational outcomes for children, and provide greater opportunities for their parents.
35% of households with school-aged children are without the Internet in the Wanganui District*. This is compared to the North Shore City, which has only 13% of households without internet access. This ranks 53rd for internet access out of 73 districts in New Zealand.
