Fairfax Media Appoints Three New Company Directors

SYDNEY, 26 February, 2010: Mr Roger Corbett, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fairfax Media Limited [ASX:FXJ], today announced the appointment of three new directors of the Company.

The directors are:

Sandra McPhee, Sydney based. Ms McPhee is a director of AGL Energy, Kathmandu Holdings Limited, Tourism Australia, St Vincent's and Mater Health Sydney, The Art Gallery of New South Wales and a member of the advisory boards of JP Morgan and MMC. Her previous directorships include Australia Post, Coles Group Limited and Perpetual Limited. Prior to becoming a professional director Ms McPhee had an extensive career in the aviation industry holding senior executive positions in sales and marketing, most recently with Qantas Airways Limited.

Sam Morgan, Wellington (NZ) based. Mr Morgan is the founder and former CEO of New Zealand's largest online transaction site TradeMe, which was purchased by Fairfax Media in 2006. He is the Chairman of software company Visfleet, a director of Tourism New Zealand and a director of online businesses Xero and Sonar6.

Linda Nicholls, AO, Melbourne based. Ms Nicholls is a corporate advisor and director of a number of leading Australian companies and organisations. She is Chair of Healthscope Limited, a director of Sigma Pharmaceutical Group, Insurance Manufacturers Australia and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Biomedical Science. She is also on the Board of the Harvard Business School Alumni. She is a former Chair of Australia Post and a director of St George Bank Limited. Prior to becoming a professional director Ms Nicholls held senior executive positions in the banking and finance industry.

Ms Nicholls has agreed to chair the Fairfax Media Audit and Risk Committee of the Board.

Mr Corbett said the appointment of the new directors - effective today - followed an extensive review, which aligned the skills of candidates with the requirements of the Company for the future.

"The high calibre, experience and skill sets of our new directors collectively represent an invaluable addition to the Board of Fairfax Media,'' Mr Corbett said.

"Together with current directors, the Board is very well positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities of our industry.''

Mr Corbett said the Board expects to announce the appointment of a further, new director in the coming months.
