29 October 2008 - The draft Master Plan for Flat Bush town centre is to be available for public presentation and feedback on November 13, developer Melview Developments Ltd and landowner Tomorrow's Manukau Properties Ltd (TMPL) announced today.

The Draft Master Plan has been presented to TMPL board members and Manukau city councillors as part of the agreed consultation process.

A public presentation will be held on November 13 where developer Mr Nigel McKenna will outline the broad philosophy of the town centre Draft Master Plan.

Mr McKenna and TMPL's Mike Higgins stressed today that the plan was very much a 'map' rather than a final design.

"We don't want people to think they will be looking at drawings of buildings or final designs and visuals - this is very much the first step of what is a complex Master Planning process. It will, however, provide people with a sense of the project and an understanding that this town centre will be different from those that have been created previously.

"We are still nearly two years from the start of construction and anticipate that actual perspectives and building outlines will probably not be available until later next year.

"Nevertheless, it is important that the overall concept is exposed for public discussion at this stage.

Mr McKenna said that despite recent changes in the global property and financial markets, the Flat Bush town centre was "a long term vision that would ultimately need to accommodate the fluctuations of the property cycle during its creation".

Mr Higgins said the development and presentation of the draft Master Plan was an important step in the process and had been achieved within the envisaged timeframe.

A public meeting will be held at the Conference Room, Rainbows End Theme Park, Corner Great South Road and Wiri Roads, Manukau at 7.30 PM on Thursday November 13 2008.
