Gull Signs Copenhagen Communique On Climate Change

Biofuel discounted by 8 cents per litre

Gull announced today that it has become a signatory to the Copenhagen Communique on Climate Change.

The Copenhagen Communique is being issued by the business leaders of over 500 companies from around the world. It calls for an ambitious, robust and equitable global deal on climate change that responds credibly to the scale and urgency of the crises facing the world today.

"Gull is committed to raising public and government awareness of the need to support action on climate change," says Wayne Ferrell, Chief Executive of Gull Group.

The Communique is set to become the definitive statement from the global business community ahead of the climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December. It is intended to support progress on achieving an international agreement where it currently may be lacking in the negotiations.

"Our commitment to addressing climate change is demonstrated by Gull's signing of the Communique, our use of biofuels and our commitment to a sustainable business and we plan to continue that leadership," says Ferrell.

The global launch of the Communique is taking place on September 22 US - EDT at the United Nations in New York, where it will be officially handed over to Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations.

This year we have even bolder ambitions than before. The Copenhagen Communique on Climate Change is set to become the definitive statement from the business community ahead of the Conference of the Parties 15 (COP15) in Copenhagen in December. It is a short, punchy statement, synthesising some of the key thinking that has come from business over the last 2 years. With it, we hope to create the political space for progress on an agreement where it currently may be lacking in the international negotiations.

The target? 500+ companies from across the globe, with every G20 country represented.

"Gull is serious about the environment and dedicated to lower fuel prices," says Dave Bodger, General Manager. "There are many simple options people can take to reduce their carbon footprint; when you need to use your car biofuels is an obvious example."

To mark the signing of the Copenhagen Communiqu, Gull New Zealand will be discounting its biofuels Gull Force 10 and Gull Regular Plus by 8 cents per litre from 7 am on Tuesday 22nd to 9 am Wednesday 23rd of September.
