17 OCTOBER 2008 - Ideology, Economics and Public Policy, an edited version of a speech delivered recently by former Treasury secretary Dr Graham Scott on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research, is now available on the New Zealand Business Roundtable's website (www.nzbr.org.nz).

Business Roundtable executive director Roger Kerr said the speech was a valuable contribution to the national debate about economic policy and the quest for improved productivity and higher living standards.

"Dr Scott's speech explores the place of economics in the development of public policy and the importance of well-designed, world-class policy frameworks and institutions in lifting economic growth.

"I commend it to policy makers across the political spectrum and all those interested in seeing New Zealand became a more prosperous and successful country", Mr Kerr said.
