Interest Building In Harcourts Auction Of House For Hospice

1 December 2008 - Interest in a brand new Hamilton house being sold to support Hospice Waikato's Building Appeal is building, with just two weeks to go before Harcourts Monarch Real Estate auctions the property onsite on 14 December.

Harcourts Monarch Real Estate, which owns five Harcourts offices in Hamilton, was chosen in August to market and auction the four bedroom Downey Designer Homes house in Horsham Estate, with proceeds from the sale to go towards the completion of Hospice Waikato's children and young people's facility, Rainbow Place, and the construction of a 10-bed respite care centre at the palliative care provider's new Hillcrest site.

Harcourts Monarch Real Estate Co-owner and General Manager Brian King says interest in the designer home is steadily growing as the on-site auction approaches.

"As we've been rolling out the marketing campaign the level of enquiry has been growing along with it which is great," he says. "We've had a lot of people through the open homes we've been doing since 22 November and a considerable and increasing amount of genuine interest, which isn't surprising given the quality of the property and the worthy cause involved." Designed and built for free by Downer Designer Homes on a section sold to Hospice Waikato at a cheap rate by developer Jon Webb, the superbly finished plaster-over-brick constructed house includes four bedrooms, an office, two living areas, a large kitchen with a separate scullery, two bathrooms, a walk-in linen cupboard and three car garaging, explains Mr King. "Around 50 companies have been involved in the project, all generously donating products and services that have helped to ensure the house has been built and fitted out to the highest standard and that the grounds are expertly landscaped.

"As a result we've got a premium property on offer - and as we've made clear in the marketing campaign, it will definitely be sold to the highest bidder on the day," says Mr King.

Scheduled to be the auctioneer of the property, Mr King says he is delighted his company was chosen to support Hospice Waikato with this major fundraising campaign.

"Since 1981 Hospice Waikato has been providing much-needed services to a wide range of terminally ill people and their families, all at no charge to them. Having the opportunity to support this valuable organisation and therefore the wider community by providing our expertise at no charge is both a privilege and a pleasure," Mr King says.

Located at 17 Aquila Crescent, Horsham Downs the house is open for view from 1-2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For more information visit (Property ID: HM8990).
