Thiess Managing Director Bruce Munro has welcomed Wallabies legend and leading business figure John Eales to his new post on the Thiess Advisory Board.

The board has been established to provide strategic advice to Thiess, one of Australia’s largest and most successful construction, mining and services contractors.

Mr Eales has transferred the success of his brilliant rugby career to the literary field and to the boardroom, and he is delighted to join the four other members of the Thiess Advisory Board.

"Thiess is an iconic Australian brand built on a pioneering spirit and legendary performance, and I am thrilled to join such a distinguished team to help steer Thiess towards an even brighter future," Mr Eales said.

Managing Director Bruce Munro said John’s addition to the advisory board will broaden the skills of the team and kick goals for Thiess.

"John has built a successful business career and he complements the diverse range of talent on our advisory board which will help the development of our people, and deliver fresh ideas and perspectives to the company," Mr Munro said.

Mr Eales is the fifth member of the Thiess Advisory Board which is chaired by Kirstin Ferguson, an experienced non-executive director with specific expertise in workplace safety and diversity.

Welcoming Mr Eales to the board, Ms Ferguson said his business acumen, leadership skills and unique ability to engage at all levels makes him a tremendous asset for Thiess.

"We are very fortunate to have such diverse experience on the board and John will complement the skills we have around the table.

"Thiess has deliberately sought board members with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds covering areas relevant to Thiess' strategic direction and opportunities for future success," Ms Ferguson said.

In addition to being ambassadors for Thiess, Advisory Board members are a resource that senior management can tap into for expertise in areas such as safety, innovation, diversity, and leadership.
