The World Congress of Accountants (WCOA), is jointly organised by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). It will be held in Malaysia for the first time from 8 to 11 November 2010.

To date, there have been 17 such congresses held in various countries around the world such as in the United States and European cities, with the last World Congress held in Istanbul, Turkey in 2006. Since 1904, only two ASEAN capitals have organised the WCOA. They are Tokyo, Japan (1987) and Hong Kong in 2002. Malaysia will go down in history as the third Asian country to host the WCOA.

The World Congress, which is being held every four years since 2002, is the foremost international event for the accountancy profession and a meeting of influential communities to share in the latest information, innovative ideas and to exchange views on a platform of international and regional interests.
