Villa Maria Estate has scooped trophies for Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc at the 2009 Royal Hobart International Wine Show, one of Australia's major wine shows.
Trophies were awarded to 2007 Single Vineyard Taylors Pass Pinot Noir and 2009 Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc.
More than 2,500 Australian and New Zealand wines were judged by an international panel which included New Zealand's Bob Campbell MW, South Africa's Clive Torr and Australia's Nick Bulleid and Tony Jordan.
Janice Overett, Project Officer for the competition commented: "Villa Maria was up against good Tasmanian Pinots and did well to take them out again as you have done in previous years."
The trophy for the 2009 Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc comes just a few weeks after the same wine won the Sauvignon Blanc trophy at London's International Wine and Spirits Competition.
Summary of results
* Trophy for Best Pinot Noir - 2007 Villa Maria Single Vineyard Taylors Pass Pinot Noir
* Trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc - 2009 Villa Maria Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc
* Gold - 2008 Villa Maria Reserve Pinot Noir
