Phitek Systems Delivers Active Noise Cancelling Technology To Premium Passengers

Phitek Systems Limited, the global leader in electro-acoustic technologies for personal listening today announced that it has been awarded the contract to supply Qatar Airways' First- and Business Class cabins with Phitek's active noise cancellation headphones. Implementation of Phitek's patented technology is now occurring across Qatar Airways' fleet as part of a successful upgrade of the airline's 'Oryx' passenger entertainment system.

As a five-star airline Qatar Airways' premium cabin passengers are now experiencing an authentic, high quality sound reproduction in comfort and without undesirable background noise, whilst immersed in the airline's widely acclaimed in-flight entertainment system.

Paul Simmonds, Phitek's Director of Sales - Airlines, stated that Phitek was selected by Qatar Airways as a direct result of the company's innovative, patented technology and the proven reliability of its headphones in the demanding environment of aircraft cabins.

Simmonds also stated that Phitek is experiencing increased sales success in Middle East markets as a result of the support given by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, benefitting especially from New Zealand's raised profile during the recent Ministerial trade mission to the region. "Phitek has gained key access to commercial contacts and opportunities in the wider Middle East as a result of ongoing support by the Dubai office of NZTE and through the work of MFAT's ambassadors in the region. The April trade mission was an endorsement of New Zealand innovation and showcased Phitek's compelling value proposition to airlines based there", said Simmonds

An additional key feature offered to airlines is Phitek's headphone equipment refurbishment programme that extends the serviceable life of airline headphones; normally a disposable consumer item, helping Qatar Airways to lower the environmental profile of equipment purchasing, while reducing ongoing operational costs.

Certain models of Phitek headphones as supplied to Qatar Airways are compatible with the Phitek's SmartjackTM technology, which has now been installed on more than 250,000 aircraft seats worldwide.
