Ray White's New Zealand Sales Up 47 Per Cent

The Ray White Group's sales in New Zealand during August were almost 50 per cent higher than for the same period last year.

Ray White New Zealand CEO Carey Smith said there was a 47 per cent improvement on August, 2008, with significant increases reported in all regions.

Mr Smith said the biggest rise nationwide was in Auckland which was almost 70 per cent up on last year with close to $200 million in turnover.

"This is a great result for Ray White and is due in part to a big increase in listing stock compared to the same time last year," he said.

Mr Smith said the Central North Island increased sales by 49 per cent with recently opened offices at Tokoroa, Putaruru and Taranaki contributing to the result.

"The Northland region increased its turnover by 46 per cent and also had a positive stock increase," Mr Smith said.

"The Lower North Island increased their property sales by 25 per cent and also increased the listings secured by 14 per cent."

The Upper South Island, where Ray White has five offices, increased its turnover during August by 41 per cent.

"The Canterbury market saw a 20 per cent increase with a 10 per cent increase in new listings," Mr Smith said.

"The Lower South Island remained consistent in the turnover of sales, with a slight increase in the number of new properties listed."

Mr Smith said even stronger results were expected for September with spring traditionally the start of the peak selling season.

The Ray White Group has 130 offices in New Zealand turning over almost $4.3 billion in property sales per annum.
