SBS Bank To Help A & P Put Southland On Show

The momentum is already building and planning is in full swing as SBS Bank and the Southland A & P Association gear up for another two-day, action-packed Southland on Show 2010.

The success of this year's revamped event, including the new name, new dates and new venue proved a huge success and the SBS Bank Rural team are delighted to be back on board as the major sponsor for SBS Bank Southland on Show 2010 being held next March.

SBS Bank general manager agribusiness Malcolm Little said they were always eager to uphold SBS Bank's tradition of community support and the partnership with the A & P Association was an ideal way to nurture the importance of town and country rallying together.

Returning to Ascot Park Raceway on 5 and 6 March, SBS Bank Southland on Show would again feature key events, including livestock judging, machinery and product exhibits, a horse and pony programme ,a children's programme and trade exhibitors featuring the latest agricultural services, along with entertainment, crafts and featured entertainment.

Mr Little said SBS Bank Southland on Show 2010 was all about bringing the country into town.

"SBS Bank's rural team upholds a tradition of down-to-earth, honest community support and with more than 140 years of experience in the agricultural sector we feel a strong connection with respected and long-established organisations like the A & P Association."

"SBS Bank Southland on Show 2010 will mark the 142nd A & P Show in Southland - the same month as SBS Bank celebrates its 141st anniversary, so we share a long and proud Southland heritage of being truly New Zealand and dedicated to our members," Mr Little said.

"We're also looking forward to joining the A & P Association at two other key community events over the coming weeks, when we both take part in Rural Heritage Day and the Santa Parade. They too are truly Southland community events."

SBS Bank Southland on Show co-ordinator Juanita Thornton said SBS Bank Southland on Show 2010 would have a stand at the Rural Heritage Day, being held at Donovan Park on 21 November.

"This year's theme The Way We Were in the 1950s is perfect for us as the Queen attended our show in 1954, so we have a lot of terrific memorabilia to display. Our stand will take on a 1950s home industries theme with ladies prize-winning cakes and sponges on show and this will give an additional boost to our home industries-specialty classes for next year's show."

Both SBS Bank and the A & P Association will also have floats in this year's Santa Parade being held on 28 November.
