There is a special rebate for redundancy payments of 6 cents in the dollar.

If you or your staff are made redundant, then you can complete form IR524 (available online from the IRD) straight away and you may get a rebate of some tax (depending on the ratepaid and the total pay-out).

The maximum amount you can claim back is $3,600.
