16 October 2008 - TelstraClear is now offering New Zealand businesses the fastest DSL broadband technology in the country, VDSL2.

After a successful period of trialling TelstraClear now has VDSL2 available in seven centres and it will be offered in 14 before Christmas.

Delivered over its Next IP Network, it is the latest initiative by TelstraClear to equip New Zealand businesses with the best available resources to enhance their productivity. VDSL2 is the newest and most advanced standard of DSL broadband and TelstraClear is the first to introduce it to the New Zealand market.

Head of TelstraClear Business, Brenda Stonestreet, said plans are ideally suited for a wide range of businesses which might have medium- large offices, be connecting server farms, want to run High Definition video-conferencing or could need to shift large data files very quickly.

"VDSL2 is a business enabler. VDSL2 offers speeds typically four times faster than any other available DSL broadband and can take businesses to another level in terms of productivity and efficiency," Ms Stonestreet said.

"Businesses who trialled VDSL2 with us were impressed by the stability of the speed and the way it enhanced the way they can do business."

"Combined with the capacity of our all-fibre backhaul, VDSL2 can provide genuine benefits for businesses starting from companies with five or more employees."

Hamilton based Lodge Real Estate Ltd, which has been operating for 40 years and has more than 90 agents and property managers, was among businesses that trialled VDSL2 with TelstraClear. It noted a number of benefits including a dramatic improvement in the uploading of files and the reliability of delivery without time outs improved considerably.

"This has allowed us to improve and streamline some of our systems particularly in the marketing department where we produce literature that is rich in graphical content. Often this may be printed by a third company supplier and the new system has allowed us to upload data that previously required us to use a USB stick and physical transfer," Director Jeremy O'Rourke said. There are three offerings of VDSL2 in TelstraClear's BizNet range of broadband plans. BizNet Supreme will offer speeds of 30 megabits downstream and 7 megabits upstream at a cost of $399.99 per month. BizNet Premium, 15 megabits downstream and 2 megabits upstream, $199.99 per month. BizNet Gold, 10 megabits downstream and 2 megabits upstream, $49.99 per month. Usage Packs include 1G, 5G, 10G, 20G Speeds are reliable because TelstraClear cabinets are installed close to businesses in the key business districts More details can be found at
