VectorFibre is offering its business customers access to unlimited national and international data traffic through its InterNet Service launched this week.
The new business grade product operates over VectorFibre's MetroEthernet service and allows direct Internet access either through a customer's existing ISP or by connecting to the network directly.
Vector's chief executive Simon Mackenzie says for a flat monthly fee business customers can choose the bandwidth they require - up to 100 Mbit/s - with higher bandwidth available on request.
"This capacity can be provided without customers needing to give an estimate of their expected data demand for the month.
"This is a critical departure from traditional telecommunications industry practice where customers need to provide advance notice to their ISPs of their expected data requirements for the month.
"As our fibre network is not constrained by the limitations of copper there are no restrictions on the total volume of data traffic.
"Another key feature is that the split between national and international data is irrelevant as customers can use as much of any data type as they need for the same rate - there will be no additional charges for using more.
"Essentially we are giving customers the ability to create a cost effective, tailored and flexible internet service that meets their business needs," Mr Mackenzie says.
Chris Ichter, Director Enterprise and Partner Group from Microsoft New Zealand says "This kind of utility broadband access will support increased availability of innovative new services delivered directly from the fibre network and will be invaluable for businesses."
