Welcome Break For Motorists This Long Weekend

Drivers and their families travelling on main routes throughout New Zealand this Labour Weekend will benefit from a boost in the number of State insurance's Driver Reviver stops.

State's Driver Reviver pit stops enable travellers to ward off driver fatigue by taking a break to enjoy free barista coffee, bbq sausages and other refreshments.

"Driver fatigue is one of the major causes of road accidents. Our rest stops offer motorists the opportunity to stretch their legs, have some free refreshments and let the kids have time out of the car," says State's Executive General Manager Mary-Jane Daly.

State's community prevention programme is a practical way we can demonstrate our commitment to New Zealanders and their families.

Our staff also enjoy the opportunity to get involved and be able to give back to their local communities."

Previously the company operated four stops nationwide during Easter and Labour Weekend but the number of sites have been boosted to eight this Labour Weekend. You'll spot the well-signed stops at:

North Island: Ruakaka 30km south of Whangarei (Monday 26th)

Ngarua 18km north of Matamata (Monday 26th)

Putaruru 2kms south (Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th)

Waipukurau 16km south (Monday 26th)

Ohakea 2kms south of Bulls (Monday 26th)

South Island: Lewis Pass 20kms south of Springs Junction (Monday 26th)

Cheviot Homeview Cemetery (Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th)

Ealing 5km north of Rangitata (Monday 26th)

Sites are chosen for their traffic volume and the geographical suitability of the site.

Since the programme's inception State has helped 16,000 visitors to rest and recharge. Mary-Jane Daly says the addition of the new sites mean State can help thousands more Kiwis drive safely over the upcoming holiday weekend.
