Win For Peppers Clearwater In Top International Hotel Awards

19 August 2009 - Peppers Clearwater Resort is delighted to announce staff member Simon Ruri has been named Best Front Office Department Member at the prestigious HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence.

The HM awards, now in their sixth year, recognise hotel excellence throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. HM-Hotel & Accommodation Management magazine receives more than 600 property nominations every year, narrowed down to 40 winners by a team of industry professionals and travel media.

Simon says he is privileged and proud to have won the award. "It means a lot to receive this award - both personally and as an employee of Peppers Clearwater."

General Manager of Peppers Clearwater Ken Harris says he is thrilled Simon has been acknowledged for his excellence in service and points out that Simon has worked hard to achieve the award.

"Simon has always gone beyond the call of duty when taking care of Clearwater guests. He ensures that every guest who walks through our doors is offered exceptional service and bends over backwards to ensure they have a true Peppers experience. He is definitely a worthy recipient of the award."

"Winning this award is also testament to the training procedures we have in place at Peppers Clearwater; last year we won Peppers staff member of the year for all Peppers properties, across both New Zealand and Australia and in 2007 we picked up the Staff Member of the Year award when Clearwater was operating under another name. This is three years in a row that our staff have been recognised for their excellence in service."

Ken recognised Simon's potential at a hotel in Queenstown several years ago where he was working as a Porter. His excellent service levels meant he was promoted to Receptionist, Night Auditor, Reservations, Office Manager and then he was appointed Front Office Manager at Peppers Clearwater last year, a position he continues to hold.

Just 15 minutes from Christchurch city centre, Peppers Clearwater is set in one of the South Island's most picturesque locations set against the crystal blue waters of Lake Kaikainui, offering comfortable yet elegant accommodation, fine dining and top facilities amongst a breathtaking background. The resort sits beside a trout filled lake where guests can fish and then have their catch cooked at the award winning restaurant. The 88-room resort is located next to the PGA Clearwater Golf Course and Club, is close to ski fields, a wildlife park and Hamner Springs.
