Win-Win For Cromwell Golf And SBS Bank

If you come across a lot of smiling faces in and around Cromwell lately, it may well have something to do with the fact that SBS Bank and the Cromwell Golf Club have just struck up a key community partnership and everyone is delighted!

SBS Bank Cromwell manager Lynn Manson and Cromwell Golf Club manager Graham Mercer agreed the sponsorship couldn't be a better example of community partnership and alliance.

"SBS Bank and our club are both well established organisations with long and successful histories. We're also both committed to our members and our wider communities - we have so much in common, it's fantastic," Mr Mercer said.

"We've had an ongoing involvement with SBS Bank for some time and the point in time came right for us to explore taking that relationship further.

"Initially, when we started talking with SBS Bank, what they offered us by way of bank facilities was far superior than what we were able to get in the past. The occasion came about for us to meet and talk about the possibilities for both organisations and the timing couldn't be better with our club planning toward a significant redevelopment scheduled to start in Autumn 2010," Mr Mercer said.

Mrs Manson said the SBS Bank Cromwell Golf Club sponsorship was a true community partnership between two organisations that shared a lot in common.

"It's a fantastic win-win situation for us both, which is exactly how these relationships should work.

"Being more than 140 years old and Cromwell Golf Club being 106 years old, we both have a long, proud and successful heritage, we're both committed to our members and both have a great affinity with our communities," Mrs Manson said.

"This is one of those terrific relationships where I can see us both continuing to grow and develop together in our ever-evolving Central Otago community and the support in kind that the club has shown us already is hugely valued."

Mr Mercer said there were exciting times ahead with the major redevelopment plans and also with the club's conscious decision to heighten its role as a community facility.

"We're really committed to stepping into the community arena. We recently had the pleasure of getting involved with a two-day Cromwell College fundraising event and seeing the benefits for everyone involved. We really intend to support charity events and become a highly-valued community facility.

"The contribution that SBS Bank makes really does help us in achieving our goals and the staff are so wonderfully helpful. We couldn't be happier."
