Wine company puts NZ on green awards map

Yealands Estate has been selected as the only New Zealand company and the only winery to be shortlisted in The International Green Awards.

The Marlborough winery has been shortlisted with five other international organisations from the UK, the USA and Australia in the Most Sustainable Medium Organisation category of the awards.

The International Green Awards programme represents the most sustainable organisations across the world and focuses on identifying companies that have embedded sustainability across their organisational processes.

Owner and Founder of Yealands Estate, Peter Yealands is thrilled to be recognised among such elite company.

"Our mission is to become a world leader in sustainable wine production and this is another step towards achieving that goal. These awards recognise our work on a global level, among the world’s best."

Entrants are evaluated on sustainability vision, level of innovation and advocacy against eight sustainability indicators ranging from energy and carbon, through to supply chain and resources. All entries were judged anonymously, to avoid any prejudice.

Winner’s across all categories, including the prestigious ‘Grand Prix’ award, will be announced at the International Green Awards ceremony on 20th November 2012 at Battersea Power Station, London.

Yealands Estate’s commitment to sustainability received further international recognition in the 2012 Drinks Business Green Awards, where the winery was awarded runner-up in the Sustainability Award of the Year.
