Wellington, Oct 20 NZPA - The Refugee Status Appeals Authority must reconsider its decision to deny refugee status for a Sri Lankan man who has been linked to Tamil Tiger separatists, the Court of Appeal has ruled.
Wellington, 21 September 2009. -- A group of young friends, made up of the two main ethnic groups in Sri Lanka, have put aside historic ethnic differences to organise a street appeal in Wellington to support UNICEF's work for children in Sri Lanka.

4 May 2009 - World Vision New Zealand is to donate NZ$48,000 in emergency funding to help support tens of thousands Sri Lankan civilians, including about 60,000 children, who are fleeing a brutal conflict between Government troops and the Tamil Tigers in the northeast of the country.
23 April 2009 - While the war in northern Sri Lanka may be nearly over, its impact on local civilians is continuing to escalate with thousands of families trapped in a so called safe zone, still controlled by the separatist Tamil Tigers (LTTE).

Foreign Minister Murray McCully today appealed to Sri Lankan government forces and the Tamil Tigers to heed international calls to end the perilous situation faced by civilians caught in fighting in northern Sri Lanka.
