Tooth decay remains a significant problem for New Zealand children, and recent research shows there is evidence of a link between poor maternal oral health and early childhood dental decay.

Wellington, Aug 6 NZPA - About 2000 adults and 1000 children will be taking part in an oral health survey that is being conducted from March to November.

Roll-out continues in Lakes, Nelson/Marlborough, Canterbury, South Canterbury and Otago

About 2000 adults and 1000 children are expected to take part in the 2009 New Zealand Oral Health Survey that is being conducted from March to November 2009.
