Cadbury Dairy Milk presents legendary vocalist and entertainer Bobby McFerrin in a one-off charity event to support Variety, which has launched an appeal to help children affected by the earthquake in Christchurch.

Bobby McFerrin in Concert takes place on 16 March at the SKYCITY Theatre from 7.30pm.

All proceeds will be donated to Variety - the Children's Charity, which is working with the local Christchurch community to help children affected by the earthquake. This may include replacing mobility and medical equipment for children with special needs, providing support to schools impacted by the quake, or helping children to cope with loss.

Twenty years ago Bobby McFerrin released the single 'Don't Worry Be Happy', recorded using nothing but his own voice. Today, the 10 time Grammy winner is revered around the world as a musical genius.

The Los Angeles Times reported, "Bobby McFerrin's greatest gift to his audience may be changing them from spectators into celebrants and transforming a concert hall into a playground, a village centre, a joyous space".

Bobby McFerrin in Concert will offer 90 minutes of spontaneous musical invention, including his legendary solo vocal improvisations and lots of audience participation. His own four octave vocal range, innovative body percussion and virtuosity have been heralded for three decades in every corner of the globe.

Aimee Driscoll, Cadbury Corporate Affairs Manager, is thrilled Bobby McFerrin's benefit concert can be directed to the children in New Zealand who are most in need at this time.

"We are delighted funds raised from Bobby McFerrin in Concert can go to help the children of Christchurch who have been so dramatically affected by this tragedy.

"Cadbury had invited Bobby to New Zealand to work on a new campaign and was already scheduled to perform a charity concert for Variety - the Children's Charity. Now the funds we will raise are needed more than ever by our Cantabrian community.

"Bobby is a magical performer, renowned for his interactive shows around the world. The spirit and inspiration he brings to a stage is second-to-none and we are thrilled to host him for this very special fundraiser," Aimee Driscoll says.
