The PangeaSeed Foundation who are currently producing the Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans festival in Napier are in urgent need of a wall for one of their most notable and unique participating artists Cryptik.
Today the painting days of the six-day festival officially began and due to unforseen circumstances the wall that Cryptik was allocated to paint is unavailable.
PangeaSeed are seeking a wall in portrait format and between three and four stories high in central Napier.
PangeaSeed Foundation director Tre’ Packard says the matter is extremely urgent because of the short window of time that artists have to produce a large-scale work.
"Please help us find a wall for this incredible artist. Ideally, he needs to start painting tomorrow (Tuesday, March 21) or as soon as possible," he says.
Cryptik hails from Los Angeles and is recognised as one of the greats of the street art world. It would be a major loss to the festival if he was unable to contribute a mural, says Packard.
Cryptik plans to paint a mural of a Bryde’s mother whale and her calf, as a symbol of peace and connection.
