Selwyn District Council is excited to screen another Selwyn Movie Night to help locals get through this winter.

E.T. The Extra Terrestrial - a classic movie everyone can enjoy - will be hosted at Rolleston College on Friday 10 August.

Council Senior Events and Recreation Advisor Dave Tippett says this is one for the whole family.

"We’re excited to see parents bringing down their children or grandchildren to enjoy a blast from the past. ET is a movie that many Selwyn residents would have enjoyed as a child and we want residents to bring their families along to watch it together, it’s an absolute classic."

The movie follows the relationship between a gentle alien that has become stranded on earth and a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas). Elliott introduces his new friend E.T., to his brother and his little sister who decide to keep its existence a secret. Soon, however, E.T. falls ill, resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and the alien.

The movie is PG, children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blanket, bean bag, or cushion.
