Online poetry competition with Tararua District Library

This competition is open from 11 July to 17 August 2018 and is open to all NZ Residents aged 18 and over. Submit your own original poem to library@tararuadc.govt.nz (limit of 2 poems per entrant). Poems will be published on the library blog. Competition judge is local author, Lyn McConchie. There will be a prize for the best judged poem, and a people’s choice prize. Winners announced on Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day.

Open Mic Poetry Evening Join the Woodville Library for an engaging and entertaining evening of poetry - don’t forget to bring along your favourite poems to read.

Date/Times: 23 August 2018, 6.30pm to 9.00pm

Location: Woodville Library, 42 Vogel Street, Woodville

Entry Details: Koha. Open to adults. Light refreshments provided. Please register your interest at your nearest library or contact library@tararuadc.govt.nz. Blackout Poetry

Dannevirke, Pahiatua and Eketahuna Libraries will be running Blackout Poetry workshops on National Poetry Day. Bring in an old tattered book (that won’t mind being recycled) and get creative. Don’t have an old book? Limited supplies will be available to create your poems. All ages welcome.
