Stratford District Council announces return of Summer Nights

Stratford District Council is excited to announce that Summer Nights is returning to Stratford this February, with some very exciting acts and movies for the community to enjoy.

"We are thrilled to announce that the Summer Nights movies will be Small Foot and Christopher Robin. The Summer Nights Concert will be showcasing a new act to Stratford, Swamp Thing. This two piece blues/roots band have played at several festivals across New Zealand and Australia, so we are excited to have them on board." Says Director Community Services Kate Whareaitu.

Summer Nights movie in the park will be on Saturday 2 February and kicks off at 4.00pm, in King Edward Park.

The Summer Nights concert, welcomes Swamp Thing on Friday 15 February. The concert will start at 5.30pm, with Rick Coplestone and Janet Muggeridge returning as an opening act, and Ruby Hosking also performing. The concert will once again be held in at the Ted McCullough Rhododendron Dell in King Edward Park.

Food and drinks will be available at both events.

Alcohol is allowed with a picnic however the liquor ban will be enforced from 9.00pm on both nights.

Rain or shine both events will go ahead. In the case of rain, the events will be moved inside to the War Memorial Centre, Miranda Street, Stratford.
