To all the Soljans Estate fans and supporters out there, come and join us over the Easter weekend; Saturday, 20th April - Monday, 22nd April to celebrate the once a year traditional BERBA harvest celebration, proudly brought to you by the famous West Auckland-based Soljans Estate Winery.

"Berba", defined as "Harvest" was a festival that started in Croatia back in the 18th century to celebrate the picking and gathering of grapes. Still 100% family owned and currently managed by the 3rd generation under the leadership of Tony Soljan, the Soljan family believes in continuing their family tradition of celebrating the Croatian-style new harvest at their state-of-the-art winery complex that sits at the gateway to Kumeu Wine Country, just 20 minutes drive from Auckland CBD.

Have you ever experienced grape crushing, the traditional way, using your feet or stomping the grapes underfoot? If you haven’t, why not come out to Soljans over the Easter weekend’s amazing three-day celebration and give it a go yourself. It is an incredibly fun experience for the whole family including your 3-year old. We have grape stomping at 2:15pm daily over the Easter weekend and it is an opportunity not to be missed.

Also don’t miss the chance to treat yourself to a well earned wine tasting at the cellar door, try new wines that have just been released and our refreshing "Novo Vino" (new wine) juice that has just started fermenting. You can even join Tony Soljan himself for a winery tour - they will run all 3 days at 11am and 1:30pm, $5 per person (free of charge for kids).

Added to the programme last year, the barrel rolling races are one of the most talked about activities at Berba. In case you missed that last year or basically have no idea what it is about, the barrel rolling is an activity that requires strength, speed and balance. Age is not a barrier to being competitive as you will be competing with others within your age group. A special prize will be given away to every age group winner.

If you prefer to simply relax, you can take in the atmosphere in the award winning Winery Café and enjoy the seasonal fresh menu plus traditional style Croatian food platters and samples of the Croatian delicacy, Pašurates. Children can choose their favourites from their own menu in the Café, enjoy the free Easter eggs and have their face painted.

The Soljans GIFT SHOP has an extensive range of new arrivals to enrich your shopping experience. There are plenty of unique Kiwiana gift options to choose from whether you are looking at getting them for someone local or someone visiting from overseas.

The event wouldn’t be complete without the Dalmatian Kolo dance! Watch the dancers performing on Easter Sunday at 3pm and enjoy live music performance from 12pm-3pm daily.
