Auckland Museum Presents "I Am Making Movies" Awards Premier

Auckland Museum is pleased to present its Awards Premier for the "I AM MAKING MOVIES" competition this Sunday, 20 June with special guest Keisha Castle-Hughes.

In the first digital learning initiative of its kind for the Museum, primary and secondary students from schools in the Auckland region were invited to develop three-minute movies based on the Museum's collections. The competition attracted 46 entries produced by teams of students, all using a range of digital media to explore how objects and stories relate to their own lives and interests.

"Auckland Museum has a wealth of fascinating stories that can be told through many different forms," said New Media and Lifelong Learning Director, Karen Mason. "We were intrigued with the creative ways in which students of different ages chose to construct their stories."

The Awards Premier will be held on Sunday, 20 June from 4pm to 6pm at the Auckland Museum Events Centre. Keisha Castle-Hughes will present prizes donated by Sony New Zealand Limited for the six categories, including two Supreme Winners.

"This event marks the start of an expansion to our Lifelong Learning outreach through digital technologies, and we look forward to offering similar programmes in the future," said Mason. Visit www.aucklandmuseum.com/iammakingmovies for more information.
