The Auckland Mayor is over the moon that Valerie Adams will be able to receive her Olympic gold medal in Auckland next week.
Len Brown is looking forward to joining the throng at the Cloud for the ceremony next Wednesday night.
"This will be a special moment both for Valerie and for Auckland," says Len Brown. "She is a daughter of the southside who has proved she has what it takes, not once but twice."
"Clearly Valerie would have preferred to receive her gold at the Olympics. It’s now up to Auckland to ensure we more than make up for Valerie not being able to enjoy that moment in London."
"I expect the ceremony will be the biggest thing to happen at Queens Wharf since the closing night of the Rugby World Cup. I encourage all Aucklanders to join in the celebration," says the Mayor.
