The Black Seeds and Tahuna Breaks are sure to have the crowds grooving at the first Wild Bean Cafe ZooMusic gig for 2010 on Friday, 29 January from 6pm.
Crowd favourite The Black Seeds are one of New Zealand's best live acts and they will be bringing their revered mix of funk, dub, Afro-beat and soul to Auckland Zoo's eighth 'concerts for conservation' series.
The dynamic Wellington-based band will be joined by the uplifting sounds of Tahuna Breaks and Sons of Zion in support of tuatara conservation through Department of Conservation work on Hauturu (Little Barrier) Island.
Auckland Zoo's conservation officer Peter Fraser says Aucklanders have the opportunity to enjoy a night of top Kiwi music in an amazing location while helping out one of New Zealand's most iconic species.
"As countries around the world see so many of their native species slip forever into extinction, we still have the opportunity to give a future to wild tuatara.
"Supporting recovery and restoration work in the Hauraki Gulf - Auckland's own backyard - is a great feeling and brings us a step closer to the goal of having species such as tuatara safely roaming the mainland," Mr Fraser says.
A great day and night out - a ZooMusic ticket is also entry to the zoo on concert day so music lovers can come early and explore at their leisure.
Wild Bean Cafe ZooMusic 2010 is supported by TV3, The Radio Network, Sunday Star-Times, iSite Media and RAW. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster and Auckland Zoo.
