Hollywood Princess Catherine Zeta-Jones is to be honoured by Queen Elizabeth II. Zeta-Jones has been awarded  a CBE in the Queens Birthday Honours List for services to the film industry and to charity.

The 40 year old Swansea born actress has come along way since her breakthrough role in 1991 when she stole the show as Mariette in the TV series The Darling Buds of May. Set in 1950's Kent the role catapulted her to national stardom in the UK.

Ironically in the early1950's it was the Windsor Royal Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret who were the darlings of a nation. Glamorous and wild Margaret might have stolen the headlines but Elizabeth was the most beautiful heir to a royal throne since Victoria over 100 years before.

So when Catherine Zeta-Jones collects her honour from the Queen it will be the meeting of  two glamorous princesses (one cinematic and one royal) from two different generations. Queen Elizabeth has grown old gracefully and kept her dignity intact despite chaos at times around her. There is every sign that Zeta-Jones - fabulous at 40 will follow in her footsteps and become an ageless beauty like that other screen icon Sophia Loren.
