Christchurch Civilians Beware, Armageddon Is Near

With only three days to go till the 2010 Christchurch Armageddon Expo - coming up on the 27th & 28th March at the Christchurch Convention Centre - online forums, blogs and chatrooms are buzzing with excitement as international TV & Movie stars land from overseas - some by plane, some by Tardis.

The Armageddon Expo is the most successful event of its kind in the southern hemisphere and audience numbers are growing exponentially as people catch on to the great entertainment that the event provides; including well known TV & Movie stars, gaming, role play, film premieres and all kinds of sci-fi madness. Loved by the young and old alike; Armageddon is a great weekend out as kids get to meet the voices of their favourite anime characters and the slightly older generations can relive their youth by meeting and greeting much loved sci-fi TV stars.

This year's stars include the legendary and much revered 8th Dr Who actor, Paul McGann who will be signing autographs and posing for photos. Another big name is the ever popular and entertaining Michael Winslow, known as the man of 10,000 sound effects, performing a duet with his former Police Academy co-star Marion Ramsey - a first for Armageddon.

The ever cool 'Ando' from Heroes, James Kyson Lee makes his first appearance in New Zealand, bringing the super powers and super star factor to the Christchurch Armageddon Expo this year. And die-hard Trekkies will get the opportunity to meet and greet 'Lt. Malcolm Reed'; Dominic Keating and 'Doctor Phlox' as his human self; John Billingsley.

Comics, sci-fi and card fans can look forward to the Yu-Gi-Oh Tournaments, autograph signings with the self-described 'teller of tall tales' Robert Rankin, Madman Comic artist Mike Allred, artist Agnes Garbowski, and for Christchurch visitors only, Nicola Scott will be sketching and signing.

Anime & Manga fans can meet voice of Xmen's 'Wolverine' Steve Blum and Naruto's Tom Gibis before slipping into a costume, getting into character and competing for the Trans Tasman Cosplay Cup!

Gamers can switch on to the NZGamer area with all the latest Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii games. Or take friends out with a game of Laser tag!

There is a great schedule of movies screenings, live action with IPW Wrestling and chocolate to discover in the Easter Egg Hunt. And if that's not enough Armageddon visitors can enter the Kamehameha contest or test their teeth in the ice-cream eating competitions.

Event organizer Bill Geradts says, "This is one of the most anticipated Armageddon Expos yet - our international TV and Movie stars are going to be swamped by fan-boys and fan-girls, and I know they can't wait to meet their heroes. We've also got some great competitions and entertainment lined up that will cement the March Armageddon Expo as a one of the major Christchurch events."
