Wellington, Sept 21 NZPA - New Zealand comedy duo Flight of the Conchords missed out on any awards at the Primetime Emmy Awards in Hollywood today.

Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie were nominated for five awards -- Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama series.

Clement was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, but lost out to veteran actor Alec Baldwin, who won for 30 Rock.

30 Rock also won Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

The Flight of the Conchords series, bankrolled by American TV giant HBO, features Clement and MacKenzie role-playing two bumbling, down-and-out New Zealand musicians struggling to make it as a novelty folk band in New York.

The show also received four nominations last year but failed to take away any statuettes.

The Amazing Race, hosted by expatriate New Zealander Phil Keoghan, was named best reality-competition programme for the seventh time.

Vampire drama True Blood, starring New Zealander Anna Paquin, won the award for Casting for a Drama Series.
