Corporate dads out after close My Kitchen Rules semi-final

Corporate Dads Josh and Aaron were sent home from MKR NZ tonight, after an epic semi-final against Polynesian Cooks, Aaron and Heather.

Both teams faced the challenge of plating up their best three course menus for Ben Bayly, Gareth Stewart and the Tasting Panel Judges in Kitchen HQ.

Josh and Aaron kept it Kiwi, with a whitebait fritter entrée, a stunning crayfish main and a crumble comeback for dessert, in a last attempt to redeem their Instant Restaurant fail with the dish.

Meanwhile, Aaron and Heather showcased their Pacific Cuisine with a tuna tartare entrée, duo of beef main and an impressive Meika Poke, Panikeke and chilli chocolate ganache for dessert.

The Corporate Dads were criticised by Sean Connolly, Ben and Gareth for a boysenberry on their entrée - showing that just the smallest mistake can cost the competition - but their main showed immense skill, and Gareth agreed it was stunning.

Ben couldn’t fault their dessert and admired the bravery shown in bringing back that crumble; the Corporate Dads scoring an overall score of 50 out of 60.

For the Polynesian Cooks, Tasting Panel judge Robert Oliver’s feedback couldn’t have been better, with him stating he felt so moved by their meal and wanted to hug them.

This meant the world to the married duo, who have admired Robert’s Pacific-inspired style and cookbooks for years.

Grace Ramirez scored Aaron and Heather a 10 overall, while Nadia Lim said their dessert made her "feel like dancing".

In the end it was unanimous, with a total score of 54 out of 60 for the Polynesian Cooks - knocking the Dads out of the competition.

Both teams were emotional at the result, with Josh and Aaron admitting it felt like the right time to get back to their families after a beautiful journey and life-changing experience.

This Tuesday night it’s Neena and Belinda versus Dai and Dal in the second semi-final. But only one team can go through to Wednesday night’s grand final against Aaron and Heather. Who will it be?
