The Court Jesters are back again with their family-friendly festive show A VERY MERRY SCRIPTLESS, opening in The Forge on December 3rd. The popular improvisational comedy troupe will be recreating the story of the Nativity. With audience suggestions their journey will take several surprising detours along the way.

Improvisers Daniel Allan, Tim Bartlett, Brendon Bennetts and Jeff Clark will infuse the classic tale with their unique brand of irreverent wit and comedic skills. "We've been reading 'Bible Stories for Dummies' to prepare for our roles," says Clark, "although we still haven't figured out what myrrh is".

Ross Gumbley, veteran actor, director, improviser and Artistic Director of The Court Theatre, is taking a new role that puts his musical talents to the fore; joining with Jon Pheloung as the show's musicians. "It's great to find new ways to challenge yourself as a performer," says Gumbley "and relying on my guitar-playing skills is certainly a challenge".

A VERY MERRY SCRIPTLESS will open during the extended season of BACKSTAGE, with the stage being quickly adapted to accommodate a different kind of fast-paced comedy. It caps the most successful season in The Forge's history and an exceptionally busy year for The Court Jesters.

With all tickets only $15 and content suitable for all ages ("the only asses shown will be carrying Mary", assures Clark), A VERY MERRY SCRIPTLESS is a great early Christmas present for friends and family alike.

Performances are provisionally scheduled for Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, although additional performances may be added due to popular demand (which has happened for the previous four seasons).
