It’s been a slow month for DVD releases and this was another of The History Channel shows I picked as I scrapped the barrel, and as with last week’s review, I just hoped this wasn’t going to be overdramatized as that one was.
“Armageddon. It is a universal theme that has spanned centuries and according to the faithful, is becoming increasingly relevant today. The ultimate battle between good and evil...It has been chronicled since the first recordings of mankind's collected knowledge. Ancient texts, from the Bible to the Talmud and Koran, have introduced us to the concept of God and his rival, Satan, two epic forces predestined to ultimately face off in a final battle.”
The History Channel's special 'God vs Satan - The End Battle' was pretty much what I thought it was going to be, which means it was filled with things that just made me scratch my head with confusion. As a story teller myself, I tend to see holes in stories pretty glaringly, and often it showed the contradictions of the bible as surely unmistakable to anyone who watched it. Also it tended to over dramatize the whole subject, which took it from informational, and lumped in squarely in the dramatic entertainment zone. Once again, a bit disappointed by The History Channel with this one.
