Having just seen a show about the sinking of the famous German navel ship The Bismarck, which of course had a major focus on the British Royal Navy, made me suddenly more interested in this DVD that focused entirely on that arm of the English military force. And though I can say I’ve got an interest in military history, I can say that the Navy has always been my least interesting branch of the military, but DVD’s like this can always be a good way to learn me some on such subject that otherwise don’t really grab my attention.

“This History Channel series takes a fascinating look at the rise and decline of one of the most powerful fleets the world has ever known, The Royal Navy.”

Covering the years from 1500 right through to the modern era, this show really does give you that whole overview of what was and is the Royal Navy. Where before I knew very little, and didn’t have much interest to learn anything more, I now find myself hoping to visit some of the ports in the future where some of these ancient ships are still stationed as museums. This was a really good show, and one that naval and history buffs will really like as part of their collection.

B+ From Me!!!
