DVD Review – Through The Worm Hole with Morgan Freeman

I’ve been on a bit of an ‘outer space’ buzz recently, checking out a few shows and DVD’s on the subject, and it really is amazing how much people have worked out about the universe around us, or at the very least what they ‘think’ is going on around us. I recently saw the four-part Stephen Hawking series, which was a great insight, but it was all from his mind alone so when I saw this DVD up for review I thought I would check it out.  ‘Through The Worm Hole’ is an eight-part series and it said it looked at many different opinions and views.  With that in mind I sat down to view the series hoping it wouldn’t just be more of the same of what I had recently watched.

“Academy Award-winning actor and space enthusiast Morgan Freeman executive produces, hosts, and narrates this exploration of the greatest mysteries of the universe. This new series, produced by Freeman's Revelations Entertainment, seeks the answers to the big questions: Are we alone? Where did we come from? Is there life on other planets? From the latest work at NASA and private enterprise facilities to the latest theories from futurists and physicists, this series looks at black holes, colonizing the planets, string theory and more. Science Channel invites viewers on the journey as Morgan Freeman picks up where Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" left off and explores the new frontiers of what is beyond earth.”

Freeman was just perfect for the narrator of the show and brought so much ‘coolness’ to what can be seen as a boring subject, though, in my eyes, there was nothing boring about what was being shown on screen. Although it did touch on things I had been recently looking into, it also opened up a whole other world of ideas and concepts I had no idea about. This was a brilliant show and I would easily recommend it to anyone who has even a slight interest in what is ‘out there’ in the universe and the question of ‘how did it all begin?’.

9 out of 10 from me.
