The Things We Do For Love

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love a good stand-up comedian! But I will also say that if it’s someone I have never seen before then I always hold my breath for the first few jokes to see if they are any good!  Nothing worse than watching someone 'bombing out'on stage and even worse if it’s live and you don’t have the option to just turn off the TV. Well, when I sat down to watch Pete Correale’s first stand-up comedy DVD I was glad to never have had the feeling of my hand reaching for the remote. Also after a bit of research on him afterwards I saw that others rate him pretty highly as well.

“Recently named by Entertainment Weekly as one of the top 10 comics to watch, rapidly rising comedy sensation Pete Correale brings his keen eye for the humor found in daily life to Comedy Central with his first-ever special, ‘The Things We Do For Love’.”

His style of comedy, and delivery, reminds me a lot of Jerry Seinfeld mixed with a bit of the character actor Adam Goldberg. So basically that means he’s like a slightly hyper, more erratic version of Seinfeld. There were only a few moments during the show that made me laugh out loud, which from my point of view is an indication of what a great comedian can do to people, but for me he only managed that a few times.  However, that didn’t stop me from chuckling along to pretty much the whole routine. For me it was a really solid show and performance and seeing as it’s only his first DVD show I’m sure with time he will go on to  get even better.

So a very solid 7 out of 10 from me.
