26 August 2008 - Pauatahanui artist Janet Mazenier invites you to attend her first solo exhibition entitled 'Essence'. Her work is inspired by the landscape in Pauatahanui, as well as images and experiences which bring out the essence of life.

The paintings are abstract and often impressionistic, always providing the viewer with a point of interest while exploring the boundaries of nature and form. Janet focuses on creating simplicity out of complexity while taking a painterly approach to her work.

The exhibition opening is 11.00am on Saturday 6th September at Gallery 1847 (Taylor Stace historic cottage) in Pauatahanui. Take the opportunity to meet the artist and wander around the gallery, accompanied by the music of Sean Kirkwood with food and wine to enhance your experience.

Having recently re-entered the art world after nearly 30 years' break, Janet has rediscovered her love of oils and combines them with textural mediums to produce work with vibrancy and scale.

A silent auction for the painting "Shine" will take place with proceeds from the picture going to the Shine Charitable Trust. The Trust focuses on helping people by providing mentoring support and encouragement as they aspire to realise their dreams and future potential.

Opening: Saturday 6th September 11.00am When: 6-21st September Gallery opening hours: Thurs-Sun 11.00-4pm daily Venue: Gallery 1847, Pauatahanui Village (next to the Lighthouse Theatre).
