The first exhibition for the year at the new Geoff Wilson Gallery includes work by nationally and internationally recognised artists teaching on NorthTec's visual art programmes at Whangarei, Kerikeri and at Rawene.

"The Tutor Show" features artworks by Cathy Tuato'o Ross, Claire Kaahu White, Dorothy Waetford, Ellie Smith, Faith McManus, Glen Hayward, Harriet Stockman, Kura Te Waru-Rewiri, Lindsay Evans, Lindsay Marks, Lisa Clunie, Maree Wilson, Mark Graver, Murray Gibbs, Richard Parker, Sue Daley, Te Hemoata Henare, Vaughan Gunson, and Will Ngakuru.

Gallery Curator, Vaughan Gunson said the tutors were excited to be exhibiting in the new gallery at NorthTec's Raumanga campus. "The purpose built gallery with multiple installation areas is the kind of space artists want to see their work in," he emphasized.

"I think people seeing this show will be impressed with the quality of the work. There are artists teaching at NorthTec who have national and international reputations. It is going to be great seeing work by all these artists together for the first time," said Vaughan.

He feels the exhibition is a good opportunity for people to get an insight into the breadth of creative talent at NorthTec, which informs the teaching that is passed onto students.

The exhibition opening is on Thursday 16 February, 4.30-6.30pm. The exhibition runs until 15 March.
