Half Ford, Half Holden, Half Built

In a world first, a vehicle is in the process of being built that may finally bridge the gap between the two sides - Ford and Holden. The Rock's Drive Hosts Robert and Jono came up with the idea of building a car from scratch that takes the best bits from both camps, and thanks to their mates at Big Ben Pies and NZV8 Magazine, the ambitious project is well underway.

Rock listeners had their say via online voting to decide the front and rear of the vehicle, the wheels, the paint job and finally the engine. The FOLDEN will be half Ford Mustang and half HQ Holden, it will be gun-metal grey with a double orange racing stripe, Foose Coronet mag wheels and powered by a 302ci Ford engine.

NZV8 Magazine editor Todd Wylie is managing the project, and Matamata Panel Works have the massive job of joining the two vehicles together. "The work is coming along nicely, the Matamata boys have put in literally hundreds of hours on the conversion. While Robert and Jono have so far declined all offers to come and get their hands dirty, the NZV8 team has had to do the jobs that no one particularly wants to take on. One of them was fitting all the Bilstein suspension components, along with Nolathane bushes throughout. After all, it may as well drive as nicely as possible!" says Wylie.

The vehicle is due for completion in early April and debate runs rife over what to do with it once it's finished?
